Johannesburg, 20 July

It’s no coincidence that Nonkosi Creatives, founded by experienced HR professional Pamela Xaba, chose to launch their organisation last month, in June, it being Youth Month. Pamela has a passion for promoting diversity and inclusion and she recognises the challenges young professionals face in starting their careers. “Nonkosi Creatives is a business that is dedicated to providing training and speaking engagements/events aimed at promoting a more diverse and inclusive workplace culture, and to shift attitudes and values and help organisations to create a work environment where everyone feels valued and respected,” Pamela tells Topco Media.

On the 27th of July, Nonkosi Creatives will be officially launched in Johannesburg, at Focus Rooms, with Mpho Popps Modikoane kicking off the event as the MC. Followed by Pamela Xaba who will engage the audience behind the idea Nonkosi Creatives and what the organisation hopes to achieve in the future.

The event captures the essence of South Africa’s economic and social challenges, while emphasising the need for personal and professional growth. It seeks to empower young professionals and entrepreneurs to overcome these challenges, navigate diverse work environments, and embrace entrepreneurship as a means of creating lasting change in the country.

The focus will be on the idea of rising above challenges to create a brighter future for young professionals and entrepreneurs in South Africa. It acknowledges the legacy of Youth Day and emphasises the importance of promoting diversity and entrepreneurship to ensure success in the future. The phrase “Rising Beyond” can be interpreted as a call to action for young professionals and entrepreneurs to overcome challenges and limitations to achieve success, while “Navigating” speaks to the need to find the right path towards that success.  This is relevant in the South African context where young professionals may face unique challenges related to the legacy of our country, economic inequality, and limited employment opportunities.  Diversity refers to the need to embrace inclusive work environments, to ensure that everyone can contribute to the goals of the organisation, by promoting innovation and creativity.

“Entrepreneurship”, can be a catalyst for transformation and economic growth, with youth unemployment at alarming rates, entrepreneurship can offer a viable solution by encouraging and educating young people to become self-sufficient and in the long run, create job opportunities for others.

Kicking off the agenda, will be a panel discussion facilitated by Pamela Xaba, that will see a diverse group of panellists, Malisha Awunor, Modise Makhene, Mbuso Mlagisi and  Gill Jones, as they unpack the topic, “the legacy of youth day, charting the future in the Human Capital Space to Promote Inclusive Workplaces”.

This will be followed up by the inspirational keynote speaker Dr Frank Magwegwe who will engage the audience on his life story of personal mastery and resilience, which will further enlighten young people on how to overcome life challenges.

Lindile Xoko will briefly share the inspiration behind his book “Entrepreneurship, Using Failure as a Shortcut to Success” and how this can inspire entrepreneurs on not giving up on their hopes and dreams.  Following on the entrepreneurial theme, will see Reabetswe Molapo sharing her journey and unpacking the topic “Failing Forward, using failure as redirection”

After the break, continuing on the diversity and inclusion journey from the panel discussion, the audience will enjoy a light-hearted on-stage interview between Thembi Chagonda and Mpho Popps Modikoane on “Demystifying the Employment Equity Amendment Bill and way forward” – we have seen a lot of media features on this topic recently, so the audience can appreciate a simplified and related discussion on this topic.

Closing off the event on a high note will be Gracia Bampile , the Founder of the Award Winning Fashion Brand Haute Afrika

Gracia is a trailblazer in the fashion industry, challenging norms and reshaping the narrative around African fashion, despite not having formal fashion training, she fearlessly disrupted the industry and founded Haute Afrika in 2015. During the event she will indulge the audience on her journey as she relates the topic “Unleashing the Colours of Africa: A Journey from the United Nations to a Flourishing African Print Brand”
