The event captures the essence of South Africa’s economic and social challenges, while emphasising the need for personal and professional growth. It seeks to empower young professionals and entrepreneurs to overcome these challenges, navigate diverse work environments, and embrace entrepreneurship as a means of creating lasting change in the country.
The focus will be on the idea of rising above challenges to create a brighter future for young professionals and entrepreneurs in South Africa. It acknowledges the legacy of Youth Day and emphasises the importance of promoting diversity and entrepreneurship to ensure success in the future. The phrase “Rising Beyond” can be interpreted as a call to action for young professionals and entrepreneurs to overcome challenges and limitations to achieve success, while “Navigating” speaks to the need to find the right path towards that success. This is relevant in the South African context where young professionals may face unique challenges related to the legacy of our country, economic inequality, and limited employment opportunities. Diversity refers to the need to embrace inclusive work environments, to ensure that everyone can contribute to the goals of the organisation, by promoting innovation and creativity.
“Entrepreneurship”, can be a catalyst for transformation and economic growth, with youth unemployment at alarming rates, entrepreneurship can offer a viable solution by encouraging and educating young people to become self-sufficient and in the long run, create job opportunities for others.
Kicking off the agenda, will be a panel discussion facilitated by Pamela Xaba, that will see a diverse group of panellists, Malisha Awunor, Modise Makhene, Mbuso Mlagisi and Gill Jones, as they unpack the topic, “the legacy of youth day, charting the future in the Human Capital Space to Promote Inclusive Workplaces”.
