What is the equivalent of “hot off the press” for a digimag? Topco Media is proud to announce it has just released the 16th edition of its flagship B2B gender empowerment publication – Standard Bank Top Women Leaders.
Topco Media, like many other businesses, pivoted completely towards digital during 2020. Times of change bring with them stress and opportunity – and the COVID pandemic is a towering example of both. For our company, it meant pivoting 3600 to on-line events and digi-first publications. This agility resulted in the virtual Standard Bank Top Women Awards and Conference being a resounding success – not least because the limitation of geographical boundaries had been lifted and we were able to reach a global audience in real-time.
Over the years, Standard Bank has partnered with Topco in the celebration of South Africa’s journey of diversity and inclusion. – a true reflection of their commitment. To quote CEO, Sim Tshabalala: “Working towards gender equality is, of course, a moral obligation, and it’s also the right thing to do, but it also makes economic sense. By denying a group that accounts for more than half of Africa, and indeed half of the world’s population, their full rights and opportunities, we are simply holding back growth and human development.”
It has been a long journey – there is still a long way to go – and to keep our energy sustained for the long haul, we need to celebrate successes and milestones. What better way to pay homage to our gender icons, than to feature them on the cover of our first digi mag – 16 of the iconic individuals who have led the way in gender empowerment, celebrating gender transformation in South Africa.
Cheryl Carolus, South African politician and activist; Professor Advocate, Thuli Madonsela, former South African Public Protector; Nolitha Fakude, corporate activist and inspirational business woman; Dr Phethiwe Matutu, pioneering South African scientist and academic; Funeka Montjane, Chief Executive Officer, Consumer and High Net Worth Clients, Standard Bank Group; Professor Shirley Zinn, human resources and ethics governance expert; Dr. Glenda Gray, South African physician, scientist and activist; Caster Semenya, South African Olympic gold medalist and icon; Wendy Appelbaum, South African business woman and philanthropist; Maria Ramos, South African economist and corporate executive; Dr. Mamphela Ramphele, South African activist, physician, and businesswoman; Hon. We have an array of articles on Top Women leaders in tech, sustainability and education, as well as a lifestyle section that contains tips and advice. The piece on Top Young Women Achievers shows why we have so much to look forward to – as does the celebration of the Standard Bank Top Women Awards and Conference. To complete the publication, we have a listing of the top gender empowered companies in South Africa.
For 25 years Topco has been celebrating success in South Africa and we are already busy working on the next Standard Bank Top Women publication – as well as our suite of other annuals: Top Empowerment, Future of Sustainability, Top500, and the Future of HR.
We look forward to seeing you in 2021!
