During the Africa Tech Week Virtual Summit 2020, Founder and Managing Director of Digemy, Kobus Louw, presented a Tech Talk on how adaptive learning increases organisational efficiency. Kobus is known as an industry expert in tech who is a  passionate advocate for partaking in the knowledge revolution. This is why his invaluable contribution to the coveted tech event of the year was highly appreciated by event-goers.

At the event, Kobus illustrated an interesting introductory thought: “Imagine a world where you could, just from your dashboard, see the actual real-time knowledge of organisational personnel; this is how you’d optimise organisational efficiency”. For Kobus, training and upskilling your team members is an imperative investment when it comes to developing and growing your business. He also highlighted vital attributes for any team’s success, that is ‘retaining’ and ‘recalling’ Information. “Without repetition, your team members will not retain knowledge and skills –  this will be problematic for organisation”, Kobus warned.

As a whole, Kobus’s discussion was quite thought-provoking, pushing one to comprehend the real importance of constant learning and re-learning. In essence,  knowledge is the fuel that ignites and maintains a business’s fire.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE DISCUSSION:

  • Learning and training is an extremely powerful weapon in today’s society – These are the cogs of your organisation’s system.
  • There is a difference between ‘training’ and ‘learning’. Training is a service; it is knowledge delivered to someone. Learning is an action; it is the process of adapting to something new.
  • E-learning environments must be optimised for maximum retention and, therefore, team mates in an organisation must experience customer education, as this will enrich business and optimise behaviour for the better.
  • High quality facilitation of educational sessions and training, using automation, will lead to 100% focused training sessions. This, in turn, will increase the amount of scaling that your business experiences.
  • Investing in the education of your employees, via adaptive learning methodologies, is a long-term investment. Habitual E-learning and training will empower your employees and clients, and furthermore safeguard your business.

Kobus Louw, Founder and Managing Director of Digemy, grew up in Faerie Glen, Pretoria East, and attended the Drakensberg Boys Choir School. He then went on to enroll in the Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool (Affies). Kobus completed a degree in Mathematical Sciences at Stellenbosch University, subsequently entering the credit industry, consulting and building financial forecasting models for banks in Africa, Saudi Arabia and UAE. Thereafter, he created Digemy, an E-Learning Solutions organisation based in Cape Town, which utilises adaptive learning to identify and redress existing skills gaps which threaten bottom-line profitability, whilst  optimising businesses’ most valuable assets: their staff members.
